Dear Resident,

As the Course Director for Cosmetic Surgery Forum 2012, a forum jointly sponsored by the Dulaney Foundation, Practical Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery Forum, LLC, I would like to cordially invite you to participate in this educational forum taking place November 29 through December 1, 2012 at the Palazzo, Las Vegas. To facilitate this educational opportunity, grants covering airfare, hotel, and registration are available for 75 senior residents or fellows who register by August 31, 2011, so register here as participation is limited and we will allocate spots based on time and quality of application.

To qualify for a grant, you are invited to submit up to a 250 word piece on an issue related to cosmetic surgery or general dermatology at the time of registration (or later). Submit an abstract to info@cosmeticsurgeryforum.com. These submissions may be on any dermatology/cosmetic surgery topic and may take the form of a case report, informative session on a sign or symptom in dermatology or cosmetic surgery or simply a review of a topic. When presented, they will be allotted four minutes at the presentation session. Additionally, select submissions will be published in an upcoming issue of Practical Dermatology, pending review and revision processes. Pamela Basuk, MD and Roslyn Rivkah Isseroff, MD Professor will serve as the Primary Chair-Persons of the Abstract Committee. We encourage you to submit these as soon as possible. Thank you!

The goal of this certified CME forum is to improve physician competence in applying current clinically relevant data and expert strategies in cosmetic surgery and dermatology. An important part of this goal is to help dermatologists and other care providers by featuring practical tips and innovative solutions to cosmetic surgery and dermatology challenges. Key aspects of the activity will include improving clinician understanding of the scientific concepts and clinical data related to neurotoxin therapy (Botox and Dysport), cosmetic dermal fillers, skin lighteners, cosmeceuticals, fat treatments, and drugs in the pipeline. Also included will be analysis and discussion of risk management in medical practice, problem-solving and proper patient disclosure, as well as patient communication and privacy issues.

A key element of any meeting is discussion, and this course is designed to facilitate dialogue among all participants in a collegial atmosphere. I hope that you are able to join us and take part in what will be an informative educational experience for us all.

Sincerely,

Joel Schlessinger, MD, FAAD, FAACS
Past President, American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery
