Dr. Isseroff received her medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and then completed dermatology residency and postdoctoral fellowship at New York University. She was appointed Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Cell Biology at the same institution before being named Assistant Professor at the University of California-Davis, Department of Dermatology, where she is currently a full Professor. Most recently, Dr. Isseroff was named the Chief of Service of Dermatology for the VA Northern California Healthcare System.
Dr. Isseroff is also currently an associate editor for the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, and a member of the Grant Review Committee for the VA Research Service. She has previously served two 5 year terms as a member of NIH grant review panels, and one term as a Dermatology Foundation grant reviewer. Dr. Isseroff’s honors and awards include the NIH Research Career Development Award, the UC Davis Dean’s Award for Mentoring, several R01 NIH grants, VA Merit Awards, grants from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, and patents.
In addition to general dermatology, Dr. Isseroff has a strong clinical interest in wound care. She is currently the director of the ulcer clinic at the Veterans Administration Northern California. Her research interests include keratinocyte differentiation, migration and wound healing, signal transduction, bioengineered tissue replacement, and toxicology of the skin. Current research projects focus on analysis of cell responses to an applied electric field, bioengineered skin grafts, mesenchymal stem cells, enhancers of wound healing and clinical trials of drugs and devices to improve healing of chronic wounds.
