Manjula Jegasothy, MD specializes in aesthetic Dermatology and is Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Miami Frost Department of Dermatology. Dr. Jegasothy founded and has operated her practice, the Miami Skin Institute since 2000. The Miami Skin Institute is located one block east of the Village of Merrick Park Shoppes in upscale Coral Gables, FL. Over the years, Dr. Jegasothy has consistently won Top Physician awards, most recently voted Top Dermatologist in Miami 2021 by Expertise Awards, Top 100 Aesthetic Doctors USA and Top East Coast Dermatologist 2019 by Aesthetic Everything, Best Doctors in Coral Gables 2019 by Coral Gables Magazine, and Top Doctors Award by Castle Connolly in 2021. Dr. Jegasothy has taught injection training sessions for other physicians worldwide for two decades and is known for her “light hand” and precise injecting skill. She has become a leading expert in the art of Kybella® fat-reduction treatments, as well as innovations in new plasma treatments and laser technology, specifically skin tightening, face, neck and body lifting, body contouring, and non-invasive fat reduction procedures. These “secret” protocols that Dr. Jegasothy literally invented herself make her results better than all of her peers, and highly sought-after by her elite patients from all over the globe. As Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Miami Front Department of Dermatology, Dr. Jegasothy contributes frequently to her Dermatology training program by lecturing and supporting a family endowment.
Born in Sri Lanka and raised in Pennsylvania, Dr. Jegasothy received a B.A. in Biological Anthropology from Harvard College and subsequently her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She underwent her postgraduate training at Yale-New Haven Hospital and University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center.
Dr. Jegasothy lectures frequently at international, national, and local aesthetic medical conferences, where she is renowned for both her novel nonsurgical aesthetic procedures and practice management/marketing skills. She served on the Editorial Panels of Cosmetic Dermatology and Skin & Aging for over a decade each. Her professional affiliations include being a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She served on the Board of Directors of the Florida Society of Dermatology and Dermatological Surgery from 2003-2006, where she was able to participate in local and statewide legislative efforts for the specialty of Dermatology. As of 2020, she is serving on a medical review board for the wellness website, The Healthy, from the publishers of Reader’s Digest. Dr. Jegasothy has served on various task forces of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), and is a valued consultant for institutional investors and venture capital firms interested in the burgeoning aesthetic medical business arena. Most recently, Dr. Jegasothy co-founded a successful online skincare line, MiamiMD®. Dr. Jegasothy also has worked as a consultant for various pharmaceutical companies throughout the course of her career. She is also a frequent guest on local talk radio, and is the source of innumerable quotations in the local and national fashion press.
